The Scarlet Sails Festival
Originally created by several Leningrad school graduates, gathering together to celebrate their newly-won independence from books and teachers’ dirty looks with a re-enactments of the 1922 children’s book “Scarlet Sails” by Alexander Grin. It has evolved into a full scale festival with fireworks, concerts, and dazzling naval battles between multiple ships manned by pirates. I want to go to there.
